The Day after Tomorrow

I guess I'm mostly set.

Let's see...I have a laptop (his name is Larry). I have picked which clothes I want to bring. I have contacted my housemates. I have an international Driving License, all the medication I'll need, I've enrolled in courses... I'm ready, or almost (still 2 visits to the dentists to go).

It feels strange. Two days ago I was suddenly all panicky and wired, but now I'm strangely calm. Tonight I'm going out with some of my best friends, see them for the last time. Then tomorrow night with my parents, and then on Saturday morning, take-off!

One month to take-off

It's a new month, and a new blog. One month from now, at 11:00 am on January 1st, I will be flying to Los Angeles, to spend a semester, or rather two quarters, at UCLA.

The preparations so far? As can be concluded from the above, I have a ticket. I also have a visa, and I've already enrolled for two course: Elementary Particle Physics and Introduction to Visual Culture. What I do not yet have is housing: I'm on a wait list, and I'm supposed to hear sometime soon whether I'll have somewhere to sleep.

I'm not quite sure yet what exactly the purpose of this blog will be. First and foremost, I want to record my impressions and experiences, for myself, to be able to remember what I though when my hair's turned gray. Second, I've learned this summer tha blogs are a very good way to keep your family and friends updated on what you do, without having to write the same things in e-mails to several people. Thirdly, this will be a place to write, since I don't want to stop now that NanoNovember is over.

I'm curious what this will yield.
